CHALLENGER LITTLE LEAGUE NEWS

“The Challenger Division of Little League Baseball is a program for mentally and physically disabled youth to enjoy the full benefits of Little League participation in an athletic environment structured to their abilities. More than the skills of baseball learned through the experience, the value of the [Tuckahoe] Little League Challenger Division is found in the proven therapeutic and socialization benefits of participation in sports, the strengthening of the participants; self-esteem the opportunities to mainstream into other divisions of play, and the disciplines of teamwork, citizenship and fair play which are hallmark of the Little League program.”

Tuckahoe Little League started their Challenger Division in 1990 with a handful of players and a dream of giving every child between the ages of 5 and 18 (or completion of High School) the opportunity to play baseball. Tuckahoe Little League was the first league in District 5 to start a Challenger Division. Inter-league games with the four other Challenger Divisions within District 5 enable our teenage team to travel to Ashland, Chesterfield, Huguenot and Mechanicsville. Tuckahoe Little League Challenger players have attended the Little League Challenger Tournament & Fun Weekend each year since 1994.
If you have a child or know of a child with a disability that would enjoy the opportunity to play on a team, give us a call!
