Player Injury/Illness
Player Injury/Illness
The Board of Directors and the managers in the program at Tuckahoe Little League take player injuries very seriously. There is a national epidemic involving youth sports related injuries. Our program will not contribute to this growing problem. Your child's health and safety are always at the forefront of our minds. For that reason if a player incurs an injury that impedes their ability to fully participate in all facets of the game without limitation (this means hit, run, catch AND throw) and they seek medical treatment for that injury, then before we will allow them to resume participation in any league activities (games or practices) we require a signed note from a doctor releasing them to FULL PARTICIPATION WITH ZERO RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATIONS. This is what is in your child's best interest as well as the League's.
Likewise, if a player has been treated for a contagious illness that poses a health risk to his teammates, for example but not limited to strep throat, mononucleosis, mumps/measles, pink-eye, etc., we will require the same signed note from a doctor releasing them to FULL PARTICIPATION WITH ZERO RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATIONS.
There is no where that a manager can "hide" an injured player on a field where that player will not be at risk. Like you, we want to see your child play, but playing healthy. Your child's long term health is far more important than participating in a recreational game while risking further injury that may prevent their ability to ever play again. For those players that are concerned about qualifying for post-season tournament teams there are medical waivers that may be sought. For more information on seeking a medical waiver for post-season teams consult your league director.
