2020 Local Rules - Minors Softball

Minimum Play Time

  1. No player will sit out consecutive innings
  2. No player will sit a second inning, until all players have sat one inning. Exception is the starting pitcher. Once removed from pitching position, she must sit the next complete inning, if all players have sat one inning. If pitcher (who has not sat an inning) is removed during the last inning, must sit remainder of the inning.
  3. Player MUST start the next game after sitting the start of the previous game.

Pitching

  1. Follow Orange Book Regulation VI: A player may pitch in a maximum of twelve (12) innings in a game. If a player pitches in seven (7) or more innings in a day, one calendar day of rest is mandatory. Delivery of a single pitch constitutes having pitched in an inning.
  2. When your team is on offense
  3. Bat the roster, all in attendance 1-13, 1-12, etc.
  4. Players batting in the #10-13 positions must bat in the #1-9 positions in the following game
  5. Inning ends with 5 runs being scored or 3 defensive outs have been recorded, whichever comes first.
  6. A runner may advance from third to home only on a batted ball or walk during the first two weeks of the season. Runners may steal home in games beginning on or after April 15, 2019

Penalty for not following Minimum Play/Pitching /Batting rules:

  • First Offense: Verbal warning and appear before executive board
  • Second Offense: Suspension for next played
  • Third Offense: Expulsion from the league

Game Time

  1. No new inning starts after 1 hour and 35 minutes.
  2. Complete the inning if started prior to 1 hour and 35 minutes.
  3. Time limits may only be applied after the game is official (3 ½ innings if home team is leading).
  4. Continue playing games until the time limit in situations where the outcome is already decided – ex. Visiting team is up by 10 runs after 4 ½ innings and game time is 1:32 – allow the Home team to hit to finish the inning. In the above scenario, if the Home team is winning and the game time reaches 1:35, the game is considered complete and play should stop

Umpiring

If home plate umpire is late, field umpire will call balls and strikes from behind the mound. Do not delay the start of the game.

Substitute Manager/Roster Coaches

Only the Manager and two (2) Roster Coaches are allowed in the on the field or in the dugout during games. In the event a team is missing a Manager or Roster Coach(es) for a game, a Manager or Roster Coach from another Tuckahoe team may be used as a substitute coach(es). Members of the TLL Board may also serve as substitute coaches. Coaches cannot be borrowed from the opposing team. Substitute coaches must be reported to the VP of Softball in advance of the game
