Tuckahoe Little League Majors / Minors Baseball Assessment and Placement Process

In 2017 Tuckahoe Little League implemented a new process for placing players in Majors and Minors divisions.  It has been very well received and we are continuing to use it each year.

  • League age 11 and 12 year old players who were on a TLL Majors team for the 2019 Spring season will remain on the same Majors teams and do not need to attend the evaluation.
  •  All other league age 10, 11, and 12 year old players must participate in at least one skills assessment at Tuckahoe Sports, Inc. (TSI) on one of the dates indicated under the 2020 Important Dates Section.
  •  A league age 10 or 11 year-old player must attend at least one skills assessment to be eligible for Majors baseball.  Failure to attend will result in placement in the Minors.
  • PLEASE NOTE:  Even if your 10 or 11 year-old son/daughter does not want to play in the Majors, it is imperative that he/she attend at least one assessment.  All of the players will be evaluated, and the managers for the Majors AND Minors will use the player information to conduct their drafts.  Accurate player draft information allows our managers to draft evenly skilled teams.
  •  Majors managers will draft their teams following the skills assessment.  Majors rosters will be final at the conclusion of the draft.  All 12 year-olds will automatically be drafted to a Majors team.
  • Any player not drafted on to a Majors team will be drafted on to a Minors team using the same evaluation information from the Majors assessment.

Every player who was not on a Majors team in 2019 must attend at least one skills assessment, even if a player intends to play in the Minors. The skills assessment is necessary for both the Majors draft AND the Minors draft.

Majors players will be notified and practice will begin the week of February 17.  Minors players will be notified and practice will begin the week of March 2.

Players must wear tennis shoes (no cleats) and bring a helmet and glove to the skills assessment.  NO bats or bat bags are allowed.  Bats will be provided.  Each player should register upon arrival in order to receive an assessment number.

  • No cuts.  All players remain on the Majors or Minors team that drafts them.
  • League age 10 and 11 year old players must attend at least one skills assessment to be eligible for Majors.  If there are special circumstances preventing attendance, contact the Player Agent.
  • Every player will be evaluated for placement in Majors by all of the Majors managers.
  • No tryout practices.  All team practices will be preparing the team for the season.

More about the skills assessment process is available here.

If a scheduling conflict prevents attendance at an assigned time, contact the Baseball Player Agent at [email protected].
