2020 Invitational Tournament

Welcome to the 2020  Tuckahoe Little League tournament page!

Every year boys and girls across the globe look forward to Little League post season play at the end of the spring season.  Post season play starts with tournaments in their own district and ends with a World Series game between the United States Champion and International Champion.  This year Little League canceled all official post season tournaments, leaving post season play up to each individual district.  Many leagues across the nation did not play baseball this spring, and even more are not participating in post season tournaments.

Tuckahoe Little League has traditionally hosted a 12 year old District 5 Invitational tournament, and enjoys entering teams in other invitational tournaments hosted by our brother District 5 Little Leagues.  This year hosting post season tournaments was made more difficult for many of our District 5 leagues due to the late season starts necessitated by the current COVID pandemic.

In an effort to help as many Little Leaguers as possible enjoy the opportunity to participate in post season play, TLL is proud to host four invitational tournaments this year:  8 Year Old, 10 Year Old, 11-12 Year Old and Seniors divisions.  To ensure more games for the players, the tournaments will include 4 games of Pool Play that lead into a traditional elimination tournament.  The 8s, 10s and 11-12s will also participate in a Skills Competition, during which every player will compete in one of three events:  a Home Run Derby, a Base Running Relay or an Outfield to Home Accuracy Throw.  The kids always enjoy this event, and we are excited to watch them in action!

Please come out and support our players and leagues.  Many of these players will compete for many years to come on future district level all star teams for their respective leagues.  Who knows?  They may end up on ESPN one day!

Please see below for general tournament information.

SCHEDULES

Schedules will be updated on each tournament page.  Please monitor these pages for updated game dates, fields and times.

Weather and field availability permitting, we will conduct the Skills Competition and Home Run derby for each tournament on Wednesday, September 23 at 6:00 pm.  See your tournament link for more details.

Inclement weather may be justification to change the tournament format and/or dates in order to complete the tournament on schedule.  Time limits may be imposed by the Tournament Director if needed for scheduling purposes.

Tuckahoe Park House Rules (these are league and/or county rules):

No kids are allowed in the score boxes

No smoking is allowed near the fields (parking lots only)

            No loose pets are allowed

No artificial noise makers are allowed

Park Amenities

COVID Guidelines

Review the COVID/Return to Play Guidelines: On our web-site.  Please take a look at the TLL web-site for this information and pass along to your parents: https://www.tuckahoe.org/Default.aspx?tabid=2711039

** The area around home plate between scoring boxes and dugouts will be marked and off-limits to non-players/coaches.  Players must utilize this area to maintain social distancing.  Only on-deck and “in the hole” hitters may be in the dugout.  Teams may want to provide canopies for their players to sit/stand under during their games.  Families should bring lawn chairs for seating.

Staff/Volunteer Needs

Home team must keep the official book.  Managers must turn in a lineup to the official Score Keeper that includes full name of player, uniform number and league age of player.  Official Score Keeper must make some type of mark to track ALL pitches.  Official scorer may not keep two books at once.

Visiting team must work the score board, track the pitch counts (where applicable) and provide an announcer.  One or two people may be used for this.  Pitch counts must be confirmed each half inning by the Official Scorer and pitch count tracker. (This is much easier if they work together and do it after each batter.)

TOURNAMENT PLAYING RULES

The Official Little League Playing Rules (Little League Tournament Rules) shall govern the tournament, including the Run Rule – Tournament Rule 12.  Refer to Baseball Playing Rule Book for the current year.
